Who should attend?

Any healthcare professional or educator who works in or has an interest in supporting children and families with eating by mouth or tube, infant feeding and/or delivers feeding therapy interventions We welcome all health care professionals and educators including (but not limited to) Dietitians, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Lactation Consultants, Midwives, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Continence Clinicians, Nurses, Medical Practitioners,  Social Workers, Teachers and Educators.


Workshop outline

 The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Differentiating between eating and feeding presentations: Eating/feeding differences including sensitive/cautious eaters in the early years, paediatric feeding disorders and ARFID 
  • Responsive feeding therapy foundations
  • Neurodiversity-affirming eating and feeding supports
  • The ‘tilt’ concept to assist you to assess feeding dynamics and relationships between feeding partners and those who are eating or feeding
  • Assessment techniques throughout the different ages and stages to support you to understand some of the unique situations that arise and how you can support using a responsive approach 
  • Understanding eating and feeding cues and how to work with families and supporters around pressure, communication (as the foundation of eating behaviours) and feeding cues, including those who eat by mouth and/or receive nutrition via feeding tube 
  • Shaping responsive feeding therapy interventions, including caregiver coaching models and direct feeding therapy 
  • Case studies using a responsive feeding and neurodiversity-affirming approach 
  • Q&A


Workshop objectives

  •  Participants will increase their understanding of what responsive feeding is (and isn’t) and how to apply a responsive lens to all the work that you do with individuals and families
  • Participants will understand the importance of neurodiversity-affirming feeding intervention supports
  • Participants will increase their confidence in assessing feeding practices from birth through to adulthood
  • Participants will increase their understanding of how to assess eating and feeding differences using a responsive, affirming and strengths-based lens
  • Participants will utilise their reflective practice skills in relation to how they are supporting families using a responsive feeding framework
  • Participants will increase their confidence and competence to deliver direct responsive feeding therapy interventions in a timely and individualised manner, and build their clinical reasoning skills in relation to goal setting, case formulation and decision making to undertake direct feeding therapy

  •  This workshop will be facilitated live online 
  • The workshop will include further readings, ideas for resources and further learning 
  • You will receive bonus access to
    • A webinar to support you to undertake paediatric feeding differential diagnosis (including developmental eating differences, Paediatric Feeding Disorder and ARFID)
    • 2x recorded case studies using a responsive feeding therapy and affirming approach to support your learning
  • A certificate of attendance will be provided to you following the workshop
  • This workshop contributes 9 hours of continuing professional development hours
  • Live attendance to the workshop is highly recommended
  • This workshop will be recorded. A recording will be available for a 60-day period after the live workshop occurs. Additional fees apply ($50 +GST) for 60 day content access extensions after the 60-day period. Workshop recordings may be used for external purposes at the discretion of the organiser. Paediatric Eating and Feeding Course for Dietitians: Dietetics & Transdisciplinary Assessments and Interventions

Live 3-day interactive online training workshops for Dietitians + bonus webinars and case studies


Course description 

This professional development course is designed to enhance your skills, confidence and competence as a Dietitian working to support children with feeding difficulties. It has been developed to consolidate and advance your dietetic assessment and intervention skills, as well as extend your scope to offer you knowledge and skills in the transdisciplinary feeding space. 

Many courses in paediatric feeding are developed by non-Dietitian Healthcare Professionals. This course has been developed by a Dietitian exclusively for Dietitians. This means that all the information provided to you will best support your learning and understanding through a Dietitian's lens. 


It will help you to understand how to assess your own personal scope of practice in paediatric feeding so that you know your scope within a paediatric feeding team to support the best outcomes for your clients. It will assist you to know when you can take the lead as a feeding therapist and when it is timely for other healthcare professionals to be taking the lead to support a client to achieve their goals. It will provide you with models to understand not only the ‘what’ of eating, but the ‘how’, ‘where’, ‘why’ and ‘who with’. This approach to your clinical practice will assist you to work effectively with families to support achievement of their goals.


The full course will run over three live sessions and will be facilitated online so you can attend from wherever you are located. Please note, the live workshop sessions will be recorded and available to course participants for a 90-day period following the final workshop.


The course will include interactive case studies, further readings, ideas for resources and further learning and development recommendations to support your clinical practice.
